Collision Mitigation Braking System works to lessen the impact of a crash or avoid one altogether. The system adds an extra layer of security to the rest of the systems by allowing the vehicle to lower the speed.

Collision Mitigation braking uses the camera behind the rearview mirror and on-board millimeter-wave radar sensor to determine the distance from the front of the vehicle to traffic ahead. The system has a max range of a little more than 100 yards.

Forward Collision Warning uses the same camera that is used for Lane Keeping Assist. At speed, if the vehicle senses that there is a possibility that a collision will occur, a set of warnings will sound. If the driver doesn't take action, the vehicle will automatically apply brake pressure.

When traveling long distances, one of the essential aspects is that a driver must maintain a safe distance between them and the vehicle ahead. Once the system is set, the vehicle can lightly apply the brakes in instances but will not bring the vehicle to a complete stop. Drivers can activate and control the settings for adaptive cruise control from the steering wheel-mounted controls.

The system uses a camera mounted behind the rearview mirror of the equipped Honda vehicle. From there, the camera reads markings on the road including painted lines, installed to determine vehicle position. If the Lane Keeping Assist System senses that the vehicle is getting too to a barrier or is in danger of leaving the intended lane of travel without a turn signal, the vehicle will set off a series of warnings. If the driver doesn't take action, the vehicle will apply the brakes.
